Summer Reading: The Universe Versus Alex Woods

The theme/central idea in my summer reading book: The Universe Versus Alex Woods is that sometimes the hardest decision to make is the right one. Once Mr. Peterson is diagnosed with a terminal illness Alex has to make a decision he doesn't want to, but knows it's best for Mr. Peterson. "He wants the right to choose for himself. Then, after some time I crossed out eight and rewrote as follows: 8) He should have the right to choose for himself. That was the second hardest thing I've ever had to write," (Extence 299). The theme forms after we find out that Mr. Peterson is going to deteriorate in his mind and mobility until he dies of the terminal illness.
